Most of the political parties have fielded fresh candidates in the ensuing BMC polls, in keeping
with”The old order changeth, yielding place to new” thus agreeing that old systems, ideas, or
ways must give way to new ones for progress.
The Shiv Sena(UBT) candidate Meghna Vishal Mane (41) contesting from ward 60 (Shri
Swami Samarth Nagar, Lokhandwala Complex, Shastri Nagar, Sundervan,Yamuna Nagar,
Adarsh Nagar, Anna Nagar, Suresh Nagar, RTO, Bhudargad and Sahyadri Society.. Andheri West
area) having over 44,000 voters, is full of ideas to provide better civic amenities to the
constituency.
Basically from political family of Pune and residing in Mumbai for over 16 years, she has good
experience of social work since she used to accompany her politician father Ankush Kakde. A
Commerce graduate from the Symbiosis Institute, Pune, she has also been associated with a
couple of social institutes.
What are the problems facing her constituency?
The constituency comprise mostly highrise buildings, except certain pockets which face the
problem of water shortage. Besides, the constituency faces serious traffic problem. “I intend to
organize meetings with concerned Government officials to redress this. Also I will try to install
CCTV network on the Lokhandwala back road where some of the mobike riders and motorists
drive recklessly risking lives of pedestrians.
The nuisance of the unauthorized hawkers, also affects my constituency. If not controlled, it
could expand in alarming proportion. I will initiate steps to curb the hawkers’ occupying public
spaces causing inconvenience to the people.
It is essential that the senior citizens’ grievances are redressed time to time. Since most of the
roads have been dug up and massive redevelopment work is on and footpaths are almost missing.
Under the circumstances, the people struggle to walk on the road. Besides, a pollution level has
gone up drastically. I will ensure that the regular meetings with concerned officials are held to
solve these problems.

Meghna Mane has made many promises like expediting pending projects like a Post Office, a
Fire Brigade station and also a pet garden and a pet cemetery in the constituency. “A regular
interaction with the citizenry is essential, so that their views, demands are taken into
consideration by concerned officials. I intend to organize such meetings regularly” Meghna says.
She takes on Sayali Kulkarni (BJP), Gladys Shriyan(Congress), Divya Dholay(Independent),
Mamta Dhar and Sonali Kamble.
Sayali Raghunath Kulkarni (BJP)
Sayali Raghunath Kulkarni(32) a BJP candidate from ward No 60 has created an impact on her
constituency by touring all segments so that useful solution can be worked out on the demands
and the woes of the citizenry.
A social activist, environmentalist and a media personality she has been conducting services like
providing Income, Domicile, nationality certificate, Non creamy layer certificate, residence
certificate, Pan card, Ayushman Bharat Card, Senior citizen card through Janata Kalyan Kendra.
Some time back, serving as an Executive Director of an INS accredited media agency and a
member of BJP youth wing, she had occasion to receive Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the
inauguration of INS tower, BKC (Indian newspaper Society).
She has also promised to provide a post office and a fire brigade station. Besides early
completion of the Mogra nullah pumping station, toilet reconstruction, upkeep of jogging tracks,
preservation of mangroves and stop a nuisance of unauthorized hawkers is on her agenda.
She believes that a new generation has been stepping up, engaging, and shaping the BMC
elections. This is the future in motion and when young voices unite, momentum turns into
movement.
Divya Dholay(I)
Divya Dholay runs a Divya Dholay Citizen Services Centre (DDCSC), under the Digital
India program at Seven Bungalows. It aims at delivering essential government and private
services to citizens. The center provides the services such as: Aadhar and PAN card enrollment
